This isn't actually Angie's own hat, but was designed especially for my friend Angie, but it's proven very popular so I thought I'd make some more.
This hand-knitted hat is made with brown alpaca wool and recycled yellow yarn, from a mix of predominantly old woollen jumpers and a small percentage of other fibres. It's fitted nicely around the brim but with plenty of room at the top so you don't get squashed flat hat-hair after wearing it.
58 cm around the brim unstretched.

Because this is untreated wool, you can't just chuck it in the washing machine, unfortunately. Either use a special wool machine wash, or preferably wash by hand in warm water. Don't use fabric softener!
Wring it out after washing inside a tea-towel to get rid of excess water. Reshape while damp, and dry flat if possible. To stop it curling up after drying you can steam iron back into shape using a wool setting.
